Meet Jerry

Searching for the right therapist can be daunting. Perhaps you started with a simple google search, only to be bombarded with hundreds of different profiles and websites to sift through not really knowing if any of the therapists will get you or better yet, be able to help you. It sometimes feels like a crapshoot, doesn’t it? If so, I have created this page to help you quickly determine if I might be the right fit for you.

Most therapists use this page to highlight their educational experiences as well as other useful information they feel will help you with your decision.

I’ll get to that soon enough, but first I want to explain the kind of client I tend to have the most success helping so that you can quickly determine whether or not I might be a good fit for you.

The clients who are the most successful in therapy with me are ones who come ready to work, and who understand that I’m not going to wave my magical therapy wand and have their problems disappear. They appreciate my straightforward approach, and that I don’t tiptoe around their issues.

Many of my clients have been to a therapist before but were turned off by the way the therapist took a passive approach to therapy. If you want a passive approach, I am probably not the therapist you have been looking for, however, if you want someone who is an active participant in your counseling, you may have found your match. I keep it real, and I genuinely care about each and every one of my clients.

As far as the educational experiences you were looking for, I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University. I also have a Master’s of Business Administration from University of Phoenix. Prior to licensure, I worked as a corporate trainer after retiring from the US. Navy. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida.

I utilize several evidence-based theoretical approaches in therapy, none of which involve a crystal ball, sage, or asking “how does that make you feel?” 100 times.

I integrate a number of models depending on the issues I’m treating, but here are a couple of the most common approaches I use:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy

I hope this information has been helpful. If you would like help with your anxiety or depression or need someone to walk with you through addiction recovery, we need to connect. Please give me a call or send me an email.
