Your rights

Privacy, confidentiality & your Good Faith Estimate

Confidentiality

What you share in counseling is confidential. Florida law and professional ethics require your therapist to keep your information private, with narrow exceptions, including a serious risk of harm to yourself or another person, suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person or vulnerable adult, and a valid court order. Your therapist will review confidentiality and its limits with you in detail during your intake appointment.

Protected health information

Lemon Bay Mental Wellness Center follows HIPAA requirements for the handling of protected health information. Telehealth sessions are conducted on a HIPAA-compliant video platform. You will receive our full Notice of Privacy Practices at intake, and a copy is available at the office on request.

Email and website forms

Email and web forms are not encrypted or secure. Please do not send sensitive clinical details through them. Use email and the contact form for scheduling and general questions only, and call 941-681-0616 for anything you would rather not put in writing.

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your mental health care will cost if you are uninsured or are not using insurance. You can ask for a written estimate before you schedule, and we will provide one. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill. Keep a copy of your estimate for your records.

This website

Content on this site is provided for general information and is not a substitute for individualized mental-health assessment, diagnosis or treatment. Reading this site or contacting us does not create a therapist–client relationship. That relationship begins only when you and a clinician agree to work together and complete the intake paperwork.

In a crisis

This practice is not a crisis service and messages are not monitored outside office hours. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are in emotional distress or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. Veterans can press 1 after dialing 988.
